Meet Joheb Khan
Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do. As an Air Force veteran, the core values Joheb Khan learned while in the service deeply influence his work as a Local Aid Project Manager for District 3. Joheb is committed to helping Local Public Agencies (LPAs) keep their State and Federal Aid projects moving, from assisting LPA staff with creating their PMRS accounts to performing detailed reviews of plans and specifications. Whatever the task, Joheb’s goal is to get transportation projects to the finish line. “I get a feeling of pride and accomplishment that comes with being associated with a construction project that helps a community connect,” he explains.
Joheb was recently certified as a drone pilot through NJDOT’s Bureau of Aeronautics’ Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Program. He enjoys capturing footage of Local Aid transportation projects such as bridges and roundabouts to showcase the variety of ways Local Aid funding is being used to improve local infrastructure. During his first mission over a Sea Bright Borough bridge, he was nervous flying the drone near moving boats, vehicles, and construction cranes. However, Joheb shares, “I did my due diligence and prepared thoroughly. I was able to acquire the footage I went out to obtain and it was even included in a presentation on the DOT intranet website the following month.”

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I enjoy spending time with my wife, Sarina, and just going out to do things that come to mind week by week. I don’t have anything specific I would say is a hobby, but I do enjoy running when the weather is nice. I also enjoy whenever I get to tinker with computers.
If you could fly a drone anywhere in the world just for fun, where would you go and why?
I would definitely want to visit Iceland again and capture footage of the wildlife (whales, puffins, etc.) and capture footage of all the beautiful waterfalls. Getting a first-hand bird’s eye view of that in my opinion would be amazing.
Do you have any pets? Tell us about them.
I have 1 cat. Her name is Miss Kitty, and she is wonderful. My wife found Miss Kitty as a kitten on the road injured and took her in, almost 11 years ago now. We currently have a bird feeder at our glass back door, and she loves to just sit there and watch the local birds come to feed. She also angrily lets us know when the birds are not there if the feeder is empty, which is always an entertaining interaction.
